Hex nuts are all-purpose, six-sided nuts with internal screw threads. One of the most widely used hexagonal fasteners is hex nuts, which screw onto the shank of other bolts or hex head cap screws. Hex nuts have internal threads. We carry a variety of hex nuts, including lock nuts, hefty hex nuts, and jam nuts. Its nominal thread diameter is referred to as the hex nut size. Sizes typically vary from 1/4′′ to around 2 1/2′′. Inches are used to specify size; this is typically fractional rather than decimal. Any nut that has a hexagonal shape is referred to as a "hex nut." Jam nuts are categorized as a form of hex nuts because of their hexagonal shape. However, jam nuts are made especially to press or jam up against a regular nut. Nuts may come free.
There are two typical uses for hex jam nuts. To lock the nut in place and stop it from backing off, thread a jam nut onto a bolt and run it firmly against the regular nut. Jam nuts can also be used to level surfaces occasionally. It is necessary to designate the hexagon nuts using an indentation on the side, bearing surface, or embossing on the chamfer. No embossed markings may extend past the nut's bearing surface.
Jam nuts are low-profile hex nuts that are around two-thirds the thickness of a typical hex finish nut. They are also accurately named thin nuts. When it comes to applications where fasteners are vulnerable to erosion, stress corrosion cracking, and crevice corrosion, high corrosion-resistant hexagon nuts are a great choice. Hex is an abbreviation for hexagon, which alludes to the nut's six sides. When a "locking" mechanism is not needed, these nuts with internal threading are frequently used with machine thread bolts and screws.
